Seminyak has come into its own as an area to be reckoned with. The shopping and restaurant scene in Seminyak is second to none and is becoming famous throughout South East Asia with its vibrant and eclectic choices. Not to mention the area's nightclubs which have set the pace in Bali for some time now - this is where you come to after you're done all you can in Kuta.

Perhaps for this reason the area has become a magnet for designers and entrepreneurs, both local and international. Whilst there a several large hotels in Seminyak, most hotels are smaller 'boutique hotels' and luxurious villa style accommodation that reflect the cosmopolitan nature of the area. Canggu is more or less an extension of Seminyak, as some folks either try to escape the ever growing crowds or just came late to the party and found Seminyak a bit too expensive and are continuing the development sprawl northward.
