Greetings from Bali and thank you for visiting and Gong Xi Fa Cai! (Happy New Year) to all our friends celebrating Chinese New Year. We wish everyone a very happy, prosperous and healthy Year of the Rabbit. And with all of Asia on holiday for Chinese New Year 1-5 February most hotels in Bali are already reporting to be fully booked. That said for those still planning on a last minute getaway best to book ASAP and prepare to be flexible.
Looking forward, Saturday, 5 March, is NYEPI, the Balinese day of silence. Briefly put Nyepi is a day of total silence and peaceful meditation. Essentially Bali shuts down - no activity is allowed, no one is allowed to go out onto the streets and at night the island is plunged into complete darkness as lights are not allowed (except in hotels). As well Bali's Ngurah Rai airport will be closed for 24 hours - 6.00 am March 5 - 6.00 am March 6. So if you are planning to visit Bali the first week of Bali do be aware of this interesting and important holiday. |
